MINING PROJECTS PROMOTION The first diamond was discovered in Sierra Leone in 1930 and excavation has been pursued enthusiastically ever since. Sierra Leone diamonds are prized throughout the world. The country's largest ('The Star of Sierra Leone') was the world's third largest, and weighed 968.9 carats. It was discovered in 1972. Three other stones of comparable size were found in the Kono area in 1979. Gold is mined in various parts of Sierra Leone. And iron ore was mined until 1986, and rutile and bauxite are mined principally by Sierra Rutile, an American company, and the SIEROMCO (Sierra Leone Ore and Metal Company) respectively. Generally Sierra Leone remains a country very rich in natural resources and human potential which if well managed could transform Sierra Leone's economy to considerable strength, also tremendously benefiting investors. In Sierra Leone and Guinea, where these natural resources referred to above abound, these countries governments have created favorable environments for investors interested to invest in the mining sector, and CADS Global Network is well informed about the ramifications of the mining policies in place in these countries and can help in getting investors interested in natural resources like diamonds, gold, bauxite and iron ore position their companies in these countries and to engage in very lucrative mining and/or mineral purchasing activities.
