Global Network: All What Sierra Leone Needs Now Is Your Generous Support From You To Our Local Efforts, NOT through Big International Bureaucracies Like Africare, CARE, Oxfam Or Action Aid! The thing is humans in Third World countries need real help, not help through big international bureaucracies like Africare, CARE, OXFAM or Action Aid, but help to local NGOs who seek minimum income to give maximum help to their folks and compatriots. We live in a great world but you've got to admit, it is a little strange. One of its strangest aspects is the attention paid to fluff compared to the fluff that actually makes a difference in peoples lives. Take the whale-with-the-rope-around-its-jaw. I realize this is a trite old argument -- and I yield to no one in my fondness for dogs, cats, birds, fish, etc. -- but stay with me for a minute, because there is something truly weird going on. An unscientific survey of the internet since June 10, 2001 shows 359 articles about the whale-with-rope-around-its-jaws. During that time, I have seen exactly three articles of what’s being done to human beings in Sierra Leone, reporting little about only some of the atrocities being perpetrated in Sierra Leone. I know the whale has a rope around its jaw. That's sad. But there's an awful lot of people out there with the equivalent of ropes around their jaws, too. I am complaining because western media houses have just failed to properly report about what's going on in Sierra Leone, a very small West African country on planet Earth. Sierra Leone is a suffering country today, a most violent rebel war has wreaked so much pain to its people, and the country's infrastructure does not exist anymore. And it is sad and most unfortunate that such a rich country with very good climatic conditions and soil for agriculture and food self-sufficiency, an abundance of mineral resources, and a corps of human resources that has led West Africa from Slavery and Colonialism to nation-states is at the tale end in terms of development, and is marked one of the least developed in the world. Sierra Leoneans are a people with back bone and character, it is our heritage
to be survivors.Yes, leading the world out of slavery, yes, surviving
colonization, and yes, even that 10-year civil war. All we need now is
support from you to us DIRECTLY, not through big international aid agencies
like Oxfam, CARE, or Project Hunger. It is therefore my overall ambition, passion and optimism to be able to ACT honorably to help the suffering people of this troubled country. We of the opinion that if a few Sierra Leoneans and friends of Sierra Leone should take the lead to embark on development of the country with no political strings attached we will be able to move forward. It is going to be a monumental task, but where there is life, there is hope. We value your total attention and involvement because We trust we share deep beliefs and treasure the fundamental value of sustainable stability, peace and development of nations. We invite you to be an accredited member of CADS. We have researched and looked into all aspects of grant making institutions, but the chances of getting funds from such sources to fund third world initiatives like CADS is extremely slim and most times non-existent. We are therefore so much frustrated with such negative attention given to our local efforts. We are talking here about the consequences of a rebel war Vs. national development. That's what the struggle over overcoming the forces against sustainable stability, peace and development in Sierra Leone. So, with international aid only directed to big international non-governmental organizations like ICRC, Refugees International, Save the Children, OXFAM, CARE, United States Committee for Refugees, among others, generally neglecting the efforts of local NGOs like CADS Sierra Leone, which certainly play a critical role in addressing the social needs of societies big international NGOs and governments often failed to address, we have every reason to be very frustrated, and we need to do something right now. And your concern depends on it. Frankly, the best way that you and We can defend our vision of sustainable stability, peace and development of nations, as well as ensure the defeat of the perpetrators of chaos in the Sierra Leonean society is to have a strong CADS Program. That is why We calling on you, without apology for raising the subject of "sustainable stability, peace and development" to seek support from you and others like you. Specifically, CADS Global Network has embarked upon a special membership drive. Our goal is to enlist those Sierra Leoneans and friends of Sierra Leone we believe will help make a difference between winning and losing the struggle over the consequences of the rebel war Vs. sustainable stability, peace and development of nations". Caring thinking people who truly understand: Right now, we are all in Sierra Leone becoming a helpless witness to a state of human folly: * Where Sierra Leone is caught in an extreme downward economic spiral and where so called international development agencies still have not agreed on any conclusive action for Sierra Leone's economic recovery; * Where more than half of Sierra Leone's 4 million people go hungry in an $11 trillion world economy which has enough productive capacity to produce sufficient food for all; * Where machinery and skills lie idle in the advanced nations while they are badly needed by the developing world, and the world has yet not discovered as genius to match this idle capacity and these unmet needs; * Where about 100,000 children die every year from severe malnutrition waiting for only $400,000 a year, to rescue majority of them from this fate; while Sierra Leone must pay millions of dollars to external debtors despite our stagnating economy, our declining incomes and our starving people; * While the UN specialized agencies and many local NGOs like CADS Sierra Leone go begging for money to sustain critical programs in education, health, food nutrition and technical assistance, while only two days of world armament expenditure would suffice to fund all their budgets; * Where half a million of the best scientists in the world are employed on research for weapons of even greater destruction, while so little science and technology is applied to exploit the development potential of the poor lands; * Where governments, both in the North and South, keep buying more weapons only to end up with less security. This state of affairs is not a very flattering tribute to human sanity. And the outcome is going to rest on how much sustainable development - loving Sierra Leoneans and friends of Sierra Leone like you are willing to contribute towards overcoming these problems. That's why CADS must seek over 100,000 caring, committed Sierra Leoneans and friends of Sierra Leone to our membership this year and next year. This is the level of support that will be required to effectively prevail on the problems troubling Sierra Leone without depending so much on institutional donor support from grant making institutions which are ever more very reluctant to help local NGOs like CADS to advance their struggle against poverty of a nation worn out by over ten years of war. We believe we have a great opportunity not only to defend, but also to positively advance the values you and I share. With your help the sustainable stability, peace and development each of us cherishes can be realized and strengthened. But only if we all do our part. We need your support big bureaucracies like CARE, Save the Children would only spend under such headings as 'enrolment and committee entities', communication, information and education services, publications, management and general, and fundraising. These international non-governmental agencies receive "Maximum Income to give Minimum Aid" to the Sierra Leone. We seek minimum income to give maximum aid. Supporting local NGOs staffed by mostly indigenes of Sierra Leone instead would mean more of the funds would be made available to, or easily accessible by the beneficiaries themselves, rather than giving to maintaining the air conditioned vehicles, or sustaining the beach-resort life of expatriate staff of international non-governmental agencies. Big international NGOs and governments have often failed to address key social needs. So it’s nonprofits such as social and economic development local NGOs like CADS Sierra Leone that step in to improve the countries we live in.
