These mistakes have been reflected in oursocio-economic, political and even development effort. The Center for Alternative Development Strategies aims at promoting to successfully enable the less privileged to overcome deprivation, misery and suffering using practical alternative development strategies as instruments of social change. CADS is an indigenous initiative of well meaning Sierra Leoneans who feel they have moral and civic obligations to contribute to the rapid political, social and economic betterment of our country. The The virtue of good politics is usually a booster for other activities, where this is lacking, obviously negative developments are recorded, no matter how genuine the intentions may be. In the light of this, development work in Sierra Leone has been punctuated by misappropriation of aid funds by a good number of nongovernmental organizations with political affiliations, and have led to donor fatigue. This is why many well meaning organizations find it extremely difficult to operate to serve its beneficiaries well. This development to a greater extent emanates out of financial constraints. In a bid to achieve sustainable progress and development, CADS does emphasizes its financial constraints in like manner as we emphasize our financial desire. We
appeal for assistance either in cash or in kind. Any kind of cash and/or
material assistance will make a difference. The center has maintained this office in the US to represent its interests because of the instability in Sierra Leone that has made it so difficult for mails to reach us in Freetown through the traditional postal service, since most countries do not as of now deliver snail mails to Sierra Leone because of the war, they say. So our Global Network - USA office in Denver has been established to receive mails, books, checks or money orders payable to CADS Sierra Leone, and anything whatsoever from the developed countries which are then taken to Sierra Leone as accompanied items as and when the coordinator of the Network office travel's to Sierra Leone or when a fellow compatriot resident in the US travels to Sierra Leone. By this way CADS national headquarters in Sierra Leone is able to receive all mails, books, checks and money orders, etc. donated to CADS. Home
